Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad (PRMO) 2019

Pre-RMO exam: First step to Indian Mathematical Olympiad 2019-20

The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) is in charge of the mathematical olympiad activity for the country. Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India) (MTA) has been recognized by NBHM as the body which will conduct PRMO and whose results will be recognized by HBCSE for further selection processes of the Indian Mathematical Olympiad. The pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad (PRMO) exam will be held on August 11, 2019, between 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM at different centres all over India. In order to be eligible for selection to the next stage of the Mathematical Olympiad Programme in India, namely, the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) it is mandatory that students qualify through this centrally administered PRMO. No other independently administered examinations will be recognized.


The PRMO exam will be organized by MTA (Mathematics Teachers’ Association). The website for PRMO is available at http://www.mtai.org.in/prmo


The PRMO exam portal will be open from June 1 to June 30 for centre registration. The centre registration closes on June 30, 2019.

The PRMO exam portal will be open from June 1 to July 7 for student registration through registered Centres. Registered centres should start registering students from June 1 to avoid last minute rush.

About NMTC (National Mathematics Talent Contest )



AIM OF THE TESTS
To discover and encourage students who have the capacity for original and creative thinking, readiness to attack unfamiliar and non-routine problems exhibiting a general mathematical ability appropriate to their level.

CHARGES :-


The Fee for the preliminary examination is Rs. 50. No further fee is required for the main examination. 

MODE OF EXAMINATION
1. Your institution shall be the centre for your students and the Principal or the Head of Mathematics Department shall be in charge of the proper conduct of the examinations.
2. Individuals applying will be intimated the center at which they should take the examination
3. Every candidate (except the senior level) will take a Preliminary Test. 

PRELIMINARY TEST:

         It will consist of objective type questions in multiple choice type and fill in the blanks, each about 50% of the total.
         The responses in the preliminary test will be written in the response sheet to be supplied by the AMTI. Preliminary test will be conducted in your institution but evaluated by us, and the top about 10% scorers from each institution in the Preliminary Test will take a final test.

FINAL TEST:
It will consist of essay type questions. It will be conducted in chosen centres in the respective states and the students appearing for the final tests shall write the test only in the centres allotted by the AMTI.
