The number of students selected for Stage II (INO) in each subject is around 300. 

The number of candidates who appeared for NSE in 2012-13 in a subject from centers in each State or Union Territory (UT) will be considered the baseline for calculating the number qualifying from centers in that State or UT for that subject. 

1)Suppose this number in 2012-13 for centers in a given State in a given subject is S,

2)The total number that appeared in 2012-13 in that subject for the country is T, 

3)then the number selected to Stage II in that subject from that State would be S/T times 300, rounded off to the nearest higher integer.

In the event of a tie at the last position in the list all students with the same marks at this position will qualify to appear for the Stage II examination. 

Central government approves 58 more medical colleges

The Government of India has announced that it is setting 58 new medical colleges in states with central assistance. With this move, 5,800 more MBBS seats will be added to the 50,000 already available across the country.

At present, India has a total of 381 medical colleges with 49,918 seats registered with Medical Council of India (MCI), the country’s apex medical regulator.

The Cabinet committee on Economic Affairs has already accepted and cleared the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for enacting new medical colleges attached with existing district and referral hospitals.

CBSE Open Text Based Assessment (CBSE OTBA)

Open Text-based Assessment (OTBA) in the subjects of Geography, Economics and Biology of Class XI

1. The Annual Examination in these subjects of Class XI will be conducted by the schools as per the past practice.
2. The Question papers will be developed by the teachers as per the syllabus and question paper design prescribed by the Board.
3. The Question papers in these subjects will have an OTBA section of 10 marks based on one of the open text materials supplied by the Board.
4. The questions for the OTBA section will be supplied by the CBSE through Integrated Test Management System (ITMS) in the months of February/March 2014.
5. With the inclusion of OTBA section of 10 marks the weightings of marks assigned to various
   units of the Geography, Biology and Economics Syllabus will proportionately reduce as shown
   below:

Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education competing with CBSE over high pass percentage

JAIPUR: State education department is at wits end to ensure that Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) student to obtained marks equallent to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The wide difference between the aggregate percentages is reducing the number of state board students in state premier colleges.

Kalicharan Saraf, education minister has formed a three member committee to look into the matter said, "This is very serious issue. Our state board students lagging behind in opportunities in higher education institutes and jobs due to wide difference in marks obtained by RBSE and CBSE students."

Notably, the pass percentage of CBSE Ajmer region in class X is 99.22 against the RBSE pass percentage of 64% in the academic year 2012-13. Apply for AIPMT 2014 Medical entrance exam with late fee till 31st Jan

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, is all set to conduct the All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Test (AIPMT 2014) on 4th May 2014. The last date for the AIPMT 2014 exam was closed on 31st December 2013. CBSE provides another opportunity to the students to apply for AIPMT 2014 Medical entrance exam. Interested candidates can apply for AIPMT 2014 exam by paying late fee of Rs 1,000/- till 31st January 2014.

Students can now take JEE in Urdu as well

For the first time, over 60,000 students will take the joint entrance examination (JEE-mains) in languages like Gujarati, Marathi and Urdu at a few centres in Gujarat and Maharashtra.Registration for the JEE (mains) closed on Monday. The top 1.5 lakh students from JEE (mains) will be allowed to write the JEE (advanced) exam for admission to different IITs. The rest will seek admission to other central and state institutes.
In 2013, only Gujarat had agreed to adopt the result of JEE (mains) for admission to its technical institutes. This year, three states — Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha — have also joined the exam system.
