Admit Cards to CBSE 10th, 12th students online

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in its venture of providing a slew of New Year gifts to students, has decided to issue Admit Cards for Class 10th and Class 12th exams online this year. However, at present only schools have been authorized to download the Admit Cards so that any flaws in the Cards could be corrected at school-level itself. The CBSE has given the link on its website to the recognized schools. The schools have to send the data of Class 10th and Class 12th students on this link till January 20. The CBSE, on the basis of school data, will issue the Admit Cards in February.
The schools can take out the print of the Admit Cards by login the CHSE website once it starts issuing the same. But the schools have to mention the School Code and Recognition Code for taking out the print out of the Admit Cards.
The schools have been authorized to correct any wrong information on the Admit Cards issued by the CBSE, if there is any. But the schools have to notify the CBSE office about the corrections.
Till now, the CBSE used to issue printed Admit Cards to the students. And if the Admit Cards contained any wrong information, the corrective process used to take a considerable time and thus making the students uneasy unnecessarily till the corrections. The schools were first making the corrections and then the Admit Cards were to be sent to the CBSE office and after final corrections by the CBSE, the Admit Cards were to be sent again to the concerned schools. Hence the CBSE decision to issue Admit Cards to Class 10th and Class 12^th students online.

CBSE issues important notice to JEE Main 2014 aspirants

(CBSE), New Delhi has issued important notice to the JEE Main 2014 aspirants. "It is notices that some of the JEE Main aspirants have not uploaded image(s) of their photograph / signature / thumb impression properly. The SMS and e-mail to such candidates in this regard are being sent on their registered mobile phones and mail-id. Only these candidates have to log-in the JEE (Main) website and upload the concerned image(s) properly. The facility to re-upload the concerned image(s) will be available till 25th January 2014. " notification says. The facility for correction of other particulars (data) by the candidates will be available on the website from 01st to 15th February 2014.

JEE Mains 2014: Select date for computer based exam now available

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains 2014 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) offers aspirants the option for selecting the date and time for the computer based exams. The last date to select the desired date and slot for those students giving computer based examination is 17th January 2014.

To select the date, candidates can log in on the JEE Mains 2014 official website using their JEE Main 2014 Application Number and Password and choose the desired slot. The exam dates available for computer based exams are: 9th April 2014, 11th April 2014, 12th April 2014, and 19th April 2014. Candidates have a choice of two time slots as exams will be conducted in two shifts: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM. According to CBSE officials, candidates that have chosen the computer based examination method of JEE Mains 2014 but do not make selection of specific dates and time slots, will be allotted dates and time slots randomly, based on availability.

UGC comes up with new regulations

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has passed new regulations related to technical education and distance education.
At a meeting of the commission, as per the newly passed regulations, technical colleges will now be regulated by the Universities.
According to the new regulation, the universities have been empowered to grant recognition and approval to the colleges that offer engineering programs leading to an award of a degree.
As per the sources, before granting the approval, the universities need to develop their own mechanism for screening of proposal and inspection of Institution. The sources, however, added that the institutes that are offering a diploma in management programs will continue to be regulated as per the existing practices.

IIT-Madras ties up with 5 universities for PhD research

Chennai: IIT-Madras has joined hands with five universities from across the world, including one in China, for collaboration in research.

After more than a year of negotiations, Universite de Technologie de Troyes in France, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, University of Waterloo in Canada, University of Liverpool in UK and National Tsing Hua University in China have tied up with IIT-M to offer joint PhD programmes. 

Lih J Chen, president of NTHU, called the agreement with IIT-M a watershed moment for the Chinese varsity. "To carry out research of the highest quality... it can no longer merely be an 'in-house' affair," he said. R Nagarajan, IIT-M dean of international & alumni relations, said: "We follow a simple 4-stage process," he said. "We start with faculty collaboration, move on to student exchanges, which leads to co-supervision and ultimately culminates in a joint degree programme."
