CAT 2014: Points to remember before registering

The much-awaited registrations for Common Admission Test (CAT) for the session 2014 have begun. In order to apply, the candidates are required to:
Step 1: Register to create a profile;
Step 2: Log in with the system generated User ID and Password;
Step 3: Submit applications which includes filling details and online payment.

But before the candidates register, they should keep the following points in mind:
  • The candidates should check the eligibility for CAT 2014;
  • The candidates should ensure that they have a valid and unique email address and mobile number;
  • The points with "*" (asterisk) are mandatory to be filled, else the form will not be submitted;
  • The candidates should gather all the information regarding their educational history, mark sheets, work experience, applicable certificates to be uploaded, scanned images of passport photograph and signatures, list of IIM programmes to which one is applying.
CAT paper pattern will witness certain changes this year onwards:
The test duration has gone up by half an hour i.e. from 140 minutes to 170 minutes (two hours 50 minutes in total) 
Questions in each section have been increased to 50 in each section from the existing 30 questions.
Candidates have the flexibility to devote more or less time to each section according to their ability. One can switch over from one section to another section at any point during the examination timing.
