A Detailed Analysis (Cut-off, Answer Key, Solution and Subject-Wise Discussion) by Resonance 

On 3-April-2016, JEE (Main) 2016 was conducted for students opting to take this exam by offline mode. This is the fourth edition of this Exam after wide ranging changes were introduced in year 2013 by CBSE and Ministry of HRD. Around 12 Lakh students are slated to appear for this exam in offline and online modes.
JEE (Main) 2016 was conducted in two parts (Paper 1 and Paper 2). Paper 1 was conducted from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and Paper 2 for B. Arch. Aspirants was conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Paper 1 was for students applying for engineering seats in engineering colleges, while paper 2 was for students applying for B. Arch degrees
The analysis below pertains to only Paper 1, which was for engineering aspirants.

Overall Marks Distribution

The paper pattern was same as last year. The paper had 90 questions each worth 4 marks. All questions were objective type with single correct option. Subject wise each subject had 30 questions of 120 marks.

JEE Main 2016 Admit Card

JEE Main 2016 Admit Card is available from March 10, 2016. The JEE Main Admit Card 2016 can only be downloaded online by entering Application Number and password chosen by candidates at the time of filling JEE Main 2016 Application Form. Prior to downloading the admit card, candidates are required to provide their roll number and board details of class 12th/equivalent qualifying examination. Previous years’ pass out candidates should also verify the same details.

Candidates are advised to check JEE Main 2016 Admit Card carefully for their Name, Paper, Date of Birth, Gender, Test Center, City, State Code of Eligibility and Category. In case of any discrepancy, they shall communicate to JEE Main Secretariat immediately for necessary action.
How to download JEE Main Admit Card 2016
  • Candidates, who have registered to appear for JEE Main 2016, will be eligible to download the admit card/hall ticket.
  • They must log in by entering their application number and password for downloading the hall ticket.
  • Before clicking on the download option, candidates shall verify all the details mentioned on admit card. After verification, they can download and print it.
Note: No candidate will be allowed to appear for the JEE Main 2016 exam without a valid hall ticket.

JEE MAIN 2016: List of important topics

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is conducted to short list candidates seeking admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at NITs, IIITs, other centrally funded technical institutions, institutions funded by participating state governments, and several other Institutions.
The offline exam is scheduled for April 3 and the online exam will be held on April 9 and 10.
The syllabus of class 11th & 12th contributes to about 45 per cent and 55 per cent of IIT-JEE question paper respectively. Given below is a list of a few important topics based on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics:
Mathematics: Quadratic Equations & Expressions, Complex Numbers, Probability, Vectors, Matrices in Algebra; Circle, Parabola, Hyperbola in Coordinate Geometry; Functions, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Application of Derivatives, Definite Integral in Calculus.
Tip: Candidates are advised to do as much as quality problems as possible to develop a sound confidence level.

JEE Main 2016: Registration date extended


JEE Main 2016 registrations

The last date for registrations of JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) Main 2016 that commenced on December 1, has been extended. Interested candidates can apply for the same till January 11, 2016. The date to upload images has also been extended.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the online as well as offline examination dates for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE ) Main 2016. The offline exam will be held on April 3, 2016 and the online exam will be held on April 9 and 10, 2016. The candidates can only avail three maximum attempts at JEE (Main).
JEE is an all India common entrance examination conducted to provide admissions to several engineering courses. The entrance examination is conducted in two parts, JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced. Candidates who clear IIT-JEE main examination are eligible to appear for IIT-JEE (advanced) which provides an entry to IITs.

JEE Main 2016: Number of attempts increased to 3

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2016 is scheduled to be conducted on April 3, 2016 (offline) and April 9 and 10, 2016 (online). Earlier only two attempts were allowed to clear the exam, but now according to the new official notification, the number of attempts have been increased to three.The registration for JEE Main 2016 began on December 1 and will be ending on December 31. Also, a detailed information brochure for JEE Main 2016 is available at the official website.
The states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting students based on their State l level examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main) 2016 application form online.

Examination pattern

JEE is bifurcated into two parts: Main and Advanced.  JEE (Main) is held for admissions to IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute) and IIEST Shibpur (dual degree programme).
JEE Advanced, on the other hand, is for admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and Indian School of Mines Dhanbad (to be converted into IIT). JEE Advanced is the second stage of examination for admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology, conducted by seven zonal IITs under Joint Admission Board.
