Joint counselling for engineering institutions

There is big news for aspirants who wish to study in three of the major engineering institutions in the Capital. For the first time ever, admissions to the BTech programme of Delhi Technological University (DTU), Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Delhi) and Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) would be conducted through a common counselling process.

A joint counselling portal (jacdelhi.nic.in) will be activated by next week. Online registration will be done through the joint counselling website by the first week of July. The National Informatics Centre will develop the joint couselling portal. Candidates would be required to register online and fill a single online application form for admission to DTU, IIIT Delhi and IGDTUW.

Candidates were earlier being admitted to these universities based on their JEE (Main) scores and counselling at each of these universities. No common counselling round for IITs, NITs this year

MUMBAI: The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs) will not have a common counselling round this year. In a meeting held on February 5, the ministry of human resources development decided to have the process similar to that of last year's, putting to rest the confusion over common counselling round for admission to the centrally-funded technical institutes.

The meeting was attended by representatives from IITs, NITs, CBSE, which conducts JEE (main), and the ministry.

"It has been decided that this year none of the processes will be disturbed. NITs will have their own counselling round, while IITs will conduct theirs. The common round might be implemented from next year after a feasibility study," said a senior official.
