Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, has notified applications for admission to Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D) programmes, starting in the spring semester of 2014-15. The institute is known for its aim of creating an environment that fosters the growth of intellectually capable, innovative and entrepreneurial professionals, contributing to the growth of Science and Technology. It also works in partnership with industry and aims at harnessing it for the welfare of the nation and mankind.

- Mechanical & Industrial Engineering
- Metallurgical & Materials Engineering
- Physics
- Paper Technology and Water Resources Development & Management
- To apply for a Ph.D programme, candidate must have an M.E/M.Tech/M.Sc degree in relevant discipline with 60 per cent of marks from any of the recognised universities.
- However, candidates having a Bachelors' degree in the related discipline with 75 per cent marks from 22 non-CFTIs and in possession of a valid GATE score, shall be considered eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
- The applicants will be selected based on NET/GATE score, written test and interview.
- The final selection of candidates will be done on the basis of performance both in written test and interview (40 per cent written test + 60 per cent interview). However, the criteria for final selection will be made by different department.
