Rajasthan High Court for re-conducting RPMT

Rajasthan High Court quashed the Rajasthan Pre-Medical Test (RPMT) 2014 which was held last month and directed the state government to conduct the examination again.
According to PTI, the order was given by a vacation judge bench of Justice M Rafiq. A group of students, who appeared for the examination, had approached the court alleging discrepancies in the question paper and demanded re-examination.
The state government had on Wednesday told the court that the examination paper was not proper and that they were willing to conduct the exam again.
Following this, the court allowed the writ petitions filed by the unsuccessful candidates and quashed the result and examination of RPMT-2014.

RPMT was introduced this year for Rajasthan domicile students to admissions in 85 per cent of seats in MBBS and Veterinary courses.
The result of 44,000 candidates who took tests in six slots on May 28,29 and 30 was declared late on June 5 night. The results attracted negative attention as 86 questions were deleted as their answers were not found in any of the options given.
The options for 43 questions were changed from what were earlier given in the answer key just before the results were declared. Thus of 1,200 questions, 129 became questionable straightway.
However, since the number of wrong questions differ in different slots, the percentile system and scaling process has led to huge variations in the ranking of candidates despite scoring equal percentile out of correct questions that were considered.
A bigger mess was reported on June 4 when authorities decided to award four bonus marks for each of the wrong question identified. It led to wide variations in different slots. For example, candidates appearing in one slot got just 16 bonus marks whereas those in another, got 76.
Following such irregularities, many students, who appeared for the examination, approached the court demanding cancellation of the results.
