JEE (Main) exam for the session 2014 was conducted on April 6 (paper
based) and April 9, April 11, April 12 and April 19 (online) wherein
13.56 lakh candidates appeared. The results for the same were declared
on May 3. Pramod Vakacharla from Sulurapeta in Nellore district grabbed
355 out of 360 and topped the exam. Around 1.54 lakh candidates made it
to the next phase and were qualified to take JEE(Advanced) , 28,666 of them are girls.
The counseling session for JEE (Main) is scheduled to commence from July 1 as per a website. The counseling phase will have four rounds of seat allotment unlike last year where there were only three rounds. Thereafter, a spot admission round will be conducted.
The JEE (Mains) score is used by students for admissions to undergraduate engineering programmes in NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions in India.

- Online registration, filling up the choices: July 1 to July 9 (5 pm) *Subject to AIR declaration by CBSE.
- Locking of choices: July 6 to July 9
- First round of seat allotment: July 11
- After online initial fee payment, candidate's personal reporting at any one of the reporting centers (RC) as per his/her convenience against the first round of seat allotment: July 11 to July 14
- Second round of seat allotment: July 16
- After online initial fee payment, candidate's personal reporting at any one of the reporting centers (RC) as per his/her convenience against the second round seat of allotment: July 16 to 19
- Third round of seat allotment: July 21
- After online initial fee payment, candidates' personal reporting at any one of the reporting centers (RC) as per his/ her convenience against the third round of seat allotment: July 21 to July 23
- Surrendering of seat at the same reporting centre, by the candidates of seat allotted in round 1, 2 and 3, dissatisfied with their allotment and do not wish to get admitted to the allotted institute, but still wish to remain in consideration for further rounds of allotment : July 21 -23
- In person reporting at allotted institute by the candidates of all the three rounds who are satisfied with the allotted seat or institute: July 21 to July 24
- Modification of choices for 4th round, by the candidates who have not got any seat allotment so far and those candidates who got their old choices unlocked by surrendering their previous allotment. Eligible candidates who did not register till date get fresh chance of registration: July 21 to July 24
- Fourth round of seat allotment: July 26
- In person reporting at allotted institute by the candidates against the fourth round of allotment: July 26 to July 29
- Internal sliding (within category only): July 31
- Spot round for both all GFTIs & SFTIs: online registration, online choice filling, online fee payment & online choice locking: July 31 to August 2
- Spot round of seat allotment: August 4
- In person reporting at the allotted institutes (both GFTIs & SFTIs) against the spot round of allotment: August 4 to August 7
- Seat allocation process closes: August 7
