To set up an Innovation
centre aiming at nurturing young scientists, West Bengal Chief Minister
Mamata Banerjee has sanctioned a grant of Rs. 5 crore to the city’s
Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS).
JBNSTS has been granted a status of “special institution” from the
state government and it has been working towards the identification of
young talents in the field of science for long. The body was founded way
back in 1958 and since then it has helped many young scientists to find
their way towards future in the field of science, medicine and
engineering. The aim of the centre is to nurture and develop future
scientists and technologists. Students have long been associated with
JBNSTS and have come out successfully with the infrastructural support
and faculty support that they have got from the centre. It has, for
years, aggravated the students to take up science as their interest area
and developed their skills for the betterment of the society at large.
There are many success stories that have already been registered due to
the active participation of this centre in the young scientists of
potential.
