University of Calcutta has begun the admission process for its Ph.D programmes for the upcoming academic session. The university is offering a Doctor of Philosophy course in Marine Science. The interested and eligible candidates may apply according to the prescribed format.
Eligibility criteria: The candidates must have an M.Sc in Marine Science or any equivalent qualification from a recognised university or institute. They should have a minimum score of 55 percent in their qualifying degree, if it is from University of Calcutta; however if their degree is from any other university, then they are required to have scored at least 60 percent.
Selection procedure: The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the written test. Those who clear the exam will be called for an interview round.
Those who have passed NET, SLET, M.Phil or Teacher Fellowship are exempted from the test, and can appear for the interview directly.
Application procedure: The application form is available at the official website of the university, www.caluniv.ac.in.
Application fee: The candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 100. The payment should be made at the university cash counter through a challan and duly forwarded to the Head of the Department or his representative. Candidates under the SC and ST categories are exempted from the fee.
Important dates:
- Last date for submitting applications is July 21
- The written test will be conducted on July 24
- The interview rounds will be held on July 29
