The Central Seat Allotment Board (CSAB) is conducting a special round of counselling for admissions to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. The counselling is being conducted for admissions to technical institutes under the JEE Main 2015. This seat allotment process is being held for the seats that were left vacant after the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) concluded the joint seat allocation process.
More than 3,000 seats were vacant after JoSAA conducted its fourth round of seat allocation, this happened because the candidates with higher ranks had blocked these seats but later on did not report to take admission against the same. Thus, the board decided to fill these seats through a special round of seat allotment. The vacant seats are available in courses such as Computer Science, Communication Engineering and Electronics, amongst others.
The candidates were to download the e-challan and pay a fee of Rs 45,000 before they can register online, the candidates under the reserved categories had to pay a fee of Rs 20,000.
The candidates were allowed to deposit the fee and fill and save their choice of course and college online by August 11. The results of the seat allotment will be declared today, the selected candidates are required to report to their respective institutes from August 12 to 14.
The candidates who fail to report to the institute allotted to them will lose their seat, and the initial fee paid by them will be forfeited.
