2 lakh more students to appear for NEET in 2019

NEW DELHI: The hope of about 20 per cent more MBBS seats on offer has prompted nearly  2 lakh more students to register for National Entrance Cum eligibility Test, the national-level competitive examination to get into medical colleges, this year.
Over 15 lakh students have registered for NEET, to be held in May 2019. In 2018, about 13 lakh students had taken the test.In 2019, for the first time, National Testing Agency-a specialised body that has been constituted to organise various competitive examinations-will conduct NEET.
Officials in the medical education division of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the surge in number of applicants could be due to the fact that the number of operational medical colleges is going up in 2019.
In 2018, there were around 60,000 MBBS seats-about 30,000 each in government and private colleges-on offer and this is likely to go up to 70-72,000 in 2019.“Various states, like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and some southern and north-eastern states, will see about 12-14 more new colleges getting operational from the next academic session, which means there would be more options for MBBS aspirants,” an official said.
A member of the Board of Governors that had replaced the medical education regulator Medical Council of India recently, said that while the exact number of MBBS seats would be known only in a few months from now, the government’s signal was to “recognise” more and more medical colleges through the public-private partnership model.
“In most states the new medical colleges are coming up though special arrangements between state governments and private sector which means that infrastructure is provided by the states but the teaching and operations of medical colleges is taken care of by the private players,” he said.“In some cases, the states are offering various incentives to private players to start medical colleges in rural and semi-urban areas,” he added.

NEET 2019 Registration Date Extended: NTA Confirms

Image result for neet image

NTA has extended the NEET 2019 registration date. Candidates can now register till December 7, 2018. After its decision to allow candidates above 25 years of age to apply for the exam, Supreme Court had asked National Testing Agency (NTA), to extend the deadline for NEET UG application by a week to accommodate all such students who were not able to apply earlier because of the upper age limit criteria. Such candidates can then apply for the NEET UG 2019 entrance exam on or before December 7, 2018. Candidates can pay the fees, through online mode, till December 8, 2018.
Granting an interim relief to the medical aspirants, aged above 25 years, the apex court however stated that the candidature of such candidates will be subject to the final outcome of the case before the court on validity of CBSE’s decision to fix upper age limit.
This year onwards NTA will conduct the exam; till last year CBSE was the exam conducting body for the country’s biggest medical entrance examination for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. The exam is scheduled for May 5, 2019. Admit cards will be available April 15, onwards.
For the latest updates in regard to NEET 2019 admission, candidates check the websites nta.ac.in, http://www.mohfw.nic.in & http://www.mcc.nic.in and the websites of concerned States/Institutions till the completion of final round of counseling.

Interestingly, this is the date when registration for NEET 2019 exam is expected to begin. The window for the same will close on 30th November 2018. The NEET 2019 will be conducted through offline mode i.e. pen and paper based exam on May 5, 2019. As per the final decision by the government, it will be conducted only once for the academic session 2019-20.
Important Dates:
Registration Starts: 1st November 2018
Registration Ends: 30th November 2018
Admit Card: 15th April 2019
Date of examination: 5th May 2019
Result: 5th June 2019
As per now, this is the final schedule. Although sometimes it happens that the result date changes due to some reasons. But we can expect the result to be declared in the same month. It was creating some issues among the students, parents, and officials.
