IISAT 214 exam to be held in December

Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bangalore conducts IISAT each year at centers distributed over different parts of India for admission to academic programmes. It is a premier institute devoted to research in astronomy, astrophysics and related physics.
This year IIA screening test (IISAT) will be held in December for providing entry to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) offered jointly with Pondicherry Central University and integrated Master of Technology (M.Tech)-Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programmes offered jointly with University of Calcutta for the academic session 2015.
Eligibility: Candidates must hold a degree in M.sc/ B.E/B. tech/M.E/M.tech with 55 per cent marks in aggregate from a recognised institution.

IIT Madras offers 2014 scholarship to Ph.D and M.S students, apply online

IT Madras, one of the foremost institute in technological education, is providing a golden opportunity to students for a scholarship. Scholars admitted to Ph.D. and M.S. programmes under regular scheme (fulltime) are eligible to apply for the 2015 research programme. IIT JAM 2015: Last date to submit online applications extended to October 16

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) conducts Joint Admission to Master of Science (JAM) for candidates seeking admissions to Integrated PhD degree programmes at IISc Bangalore and MSc (two years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-PhD dual degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech., M.Sc.-M.S.(Research)/PhD dual degree and other post-Bachelor's degree programmes at IITs.

According to a notification on the official website, the last date to submit the application forms, the online test has been extended to October 16, which was October 9, initially. Also, the online fee payment can be made till October 16. For the candidates who are making the fee payment through offline mode, the last date through challan has been extended from September 30 to October 13. The candidates should note that no applications are to be submitted offline. Only payment mode can be offline or online.

UGC lets 34 deemed blacklisted universities to function again

University of Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, has given approval to 34 blacklisted deemed universities which were previously blacklisted. It has asked them to start functioning again. In 2009, the central government had blacklisted 44 deemed universities across the nation, 34 of which have got an approval from UGC now.
Out of the remaining Universities, 7-8 have been blacklisted due to inadequate infrastructure facilities. UGC has created a committee headed by vice chairman H Devraj that has prepared the list. The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry will be sending a show-cause notice to these universities before de-notification.

JEE Advanced 2015: Tentative dates are announced

Notice regarding important dates and schedule (tentative) of JEE Advanced has been released by the IIT, Bombay. According to the notification, a short advertisement comprising of IIT JEE 2015 important information will be released online in the last week of September this year. The organizing committee will also release the complete information brochure of IIT JEE 2015 by the first week of October 2014. All leading newspapers will carry a detailed advertisement in the first or second week of October this year.

IIT Bombay was the first to make this announcement. All other IITs are in the process of updating the information on their official portal. It will be made available to public soon. Last year the announcement for the notification of JEE Advanced 2014 was made in January. JEE Advanced 2014 was held on Sunday, 25th May 2014 and the result of the same was declared on 19th June 2014.

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research: Admission open for PhD courses

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, has released a notification for its Graduate School (GS) Nationwide Entrance Examination. The entrance examination is conducted for taking admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer & System Sciences & Science Education and integrated Ph.D+ M.Sc in Mathematics, Biology and integrated Ph.D in Physics offered at Bangalore and Mumbai campuses for the session 2015.
The institute is a National Centre of the Government of India under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy, offering master's and doctoral degrees.

IIT GATE 2015: Basic Features

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scheduled for testing the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science will be conducted in the months of January and February, next year. The last date for registrations for GATE 2015 have been extended to October 14, considering the devastating flood situation in the areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

Basic features of the exam are mentioned here:
  • Examinations for all the 22 papers will be conducted by an Online Computer Based Test (CBT). The online examination paper will have some questions, the numerical answers for the same must be keyed in by the candidate using the virtual keypad. CBSE releases notification for AIPMT 2015

The All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination - 2015 is set to be conducted, except in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, as per the latest information released by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
The entrance test for the academic session 2015-16 for the 15 per cent merit positions in the Medical/Dental colleges of India is due on May 3, 2015 in selected cities across the country and abroad.
The decision came as per the concurrence of the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the government of India. The national level medical exam by CBSE is conducted to offer admission to approximately 2200 MBBS and 300 BDS seats at 130 government medical and 30 dental colleges of India, respectively.

ELIGIBILITY
  • The applicant must be 17 years old as on or before December 31, 2015

NTSE 2014 preparation tips

1. Plan you preparation in sync with NTSE Syllabus
Before coming into a preparation mode for NTSE, you must have clarity about the NTSE syllabus. This exercise ensures that your NTSE preparation moves according to what the exam demands.

The NTSE Stage-I exam has two parts – Part I and Part II. Part I consists of Mental Ability test (MAT) and Part II of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Also, in Part II, there are 50 Language-related questions.

Similarly, NTSE Stage-II also has two parts – Part I and Part II. The pattern of MAT in Part-I of this stage is similar to that in Stage-I. However, Part-II of SAT consists of 100 questions from Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. SRMEEE-2015 notification

SRM University has officially notified the dates of SRMEEE-2015. SRMEEE-2015 exam will be conducted in online (Computer Based Test) and offline (Pen & Paper Based Test) mode to for the admissions of the candidates into B.E/B.Tech courses for session 2015-16 into its various campuses. UGC to grant fellowship to Non-NET M.phil and Ph.d students

Applications are invited by Delhi University recently for the UGC Non-Fellowship scheme. The scheme is applicable for students pursuing M.Phil and Ph.D, who are not in receipt of any financial assistance from anywhere and are also registered with the university under various departments.
Fellowship Details:
  • The fellows will receive Rs. 8000 p.m. consolidated + Rs 10,000 per annum contingency.
  • The award and its extension shall be subject to actual release of funds from the UGC.
  • The university holds the right to cancel the amount of fellowship and recover the amount paid if the candidate doesn't meet the terms stated and does not stand applicable to the amount.
  • For M. Phil. students the maximum number of fellowships to be granted is 25+1 PWD (the maximum admissible limit including English Department). They will be awarded Non-NET fellowship of Rs 5000 per month with contingency of Rs 10000 per year for Science Students and Rs 8000 per year for Humanities and Social Science students.
  • The enrolled Ph. D students will be entitled to Rs 8000 per month as Fellowship and contingency of Rs 10000 for social students and Rs 8000 for Humanities and Social Science students.

AIPGMEE 2014: Important dates

All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE) 2015 application process has already commenced and will continue till October 10.
The AIPGMEE is an all-India eligibility-cum-ranking medical entrance examination conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE). Candidates should possess MBBS degree or provisional MBBS certificate from a recognised university and should have done one-year of internship or is due to complete it by March 31, 2015 to become eligible to take the exam.

AIIMS admissions: Tests for DM, M.Ch and MHA on November 30

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, will conduct admissions to Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Master of Chirurgical (M.Ch) and Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) offered in various specialisations for the 2015 academic session.
The AIIMS DM/M.Ch/MHA entrance exam will be held on November 30, 2014.

State Bank of India (SBI), one of the renowned largest banks of the nation had invited applications for filling up the post of 1, 897 Probationary Officers (PO). The result for Phase I of the exam has been announced. Phase II, consisting of an interview and group discussion (GD) will commence from October 8. The call letter for the interview-cum-GD and bio-data form will be available on the official website from September 15 onwards.

  • Be as natural as possible. Do not try to be someone you are not. Be yourself. In an attempt to be someone else, your opinions will not be portrayed;
  • Sit with a straight and confident posture;

Applications invited by National Institute of Bank Management, Pune (NIBM) for admissions in PGDM programme

NIBM, Pune has invited applications for the admission to the Post Graduate Diploma Management course in banking and financial services for the academic session 2015-17.
The Reserve Bank of India had established the National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) in 1969, an autonomous apex institution, with the mandate of playing a proactive role of a 'think-tank' of the banking system. The NIBM is recognised by the University of Pune as an approved centre for Post-Graduate research, and also by the department of scientific and Industrial research, ministry of science and technology, government of India.

The All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE) is scheduled to be conducted from December 1 to 6, 2014. The government of India established the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in 1975 with the objective of improving the quality of the medical education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on all India basis and utilizing existing healthcare infrastructure for capacity building.
The AIPGMEE is an all-India eligibility-cum-ranking medical entrance examination conducted by NBE. It is held as a single entrance examination for admission into all India 50 per cent quota in Doctor of Medicine/Master of Surgery/Post Graduate (MD/MS/PG) in medical programmes offered by government-run medical colleges as well as institutes in all states, excluding Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
