HYDERABAD: Admissions in the University of Hyderabad (UoH) will be conducted online from the next academic year, Appa Rao Podile, the new vice chancellor (VC), announced on Tuesday.

At present, only the finance department of the varsity is partially functioning on e-governance. However, from next academic year, not only admissions but services such as certificate verification, filling of examination forms etc. would go online, said the VC. "The funds given by the University Grants Commission will be utilised for making all the processes online," said Rao.

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday announced the results of the University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) that was held on June 28 across the country.

Candidates can now check their results by entering their roll numbers and date of birth on its website (www.cbseresults.nic.in), the CBSE said in a statement.

Those students who qualified for the award of the junior research fellowship (JRF) would get a basic stipend of Rs 25,000 a month along with the house rent allowance (30 percent in tier I cities) to pursue their research work for a period of five years.

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya tops CBSE ranking this year

Leaving behind some of the popular schools of Delhi, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya has topped CBSE chart this year. With the best average aggregate of 89.7 per cent in Class 12 it has become the top CBSE school in Delhi.
The Mother's International School and Delhi Public School, Rohini gets second and third position respectively.
According to a report by Times Of India, among government schools, Government Boys Senior Secondary School for Blind, Kingsway Camp has made it to sixth position leaving behind many other schools like Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar, The Heritage School, Rohini, Apeejay School, Pitampura and NK Bagrodia Public School, Dwarka.
All the school which made it to top 10 CBSE schools in Delhi chart have an average aggregate of 88 per cent in Class 12. Birla Vidya Niketan has the largest number 207 students in Class 12 followed by Delhi Public School,  The Mother's International, Apeejay and Sardar Patel.
Many students from schools have not only performed well in academics but also in co-curicular activities like sports, music and other cultural events.

New IIMs, market revival push up CAT applications

Better placement records last year, promise of new Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and hopes of an economic revival have pushed up the number of applications for this year's Common Admission Test (CAT), an increase after five years.

While 2008 saw 2.76 lakh applying for the exam, the number of applicants registering for the MBA entrance exam went down in 2009 and 2010. There was a marginal rise in 2011, but numbers dropped again from 2012. In 2014, there were 1.89 lakh applicants but the total candidates who have registered for the exam this year jumped to 2.18 lakh, said IIMAhmedabad which is conducting CAT this year.

The Indian Institute Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is set to conduct the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2016. The Common Entrance Examination for Design is being conducted for admissions to the Master of Design (M.Des) course offered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Kanpur, and also for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programme in Design offered by IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Kanpur for the academic session 2016.
The paper pattern for the competitive exam is mentioned below:
  • The exam will be divided into two parts, i.e. Part A and Part B.
  • Part A: This will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) and comprises of three parts, namely Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Numerical Ability Test (NAT) and Multiple Selection Questions (MSQ). The candidates will get one hour to attempt this section
  • Part B: This section will test the candidates on their designing skills.

100 study centres in commerce colleges to offer CS courses

COIMBATORE: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) will enter into tie up with top commerce colleges across the country to open 100 study centres where courses for students could be offered, a top official said on Sunday.

The ICSI faculty will train the students in these colleges after college hours, so that they can become qualified company secretaries, while they finished their graduation, Atul H Mehta, president, ICSI, told reporters here.

All the Centres would be opened by this year, he said.

JORHAT (Assam): Youths from the northeast region are not far behind their counterparts from the rest of the country. A young student from Assam has recently been selected for the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship in United Kingdom.

Sneha Khaund, a 22-year-old from Jorhat district, is an english graduate from St Stephen's College in Delhi. She was recently selected for the award in United Kingdom for the year 2015-2016.

She is one among 22 Indian students selected for the scholarship this year and will now be pursuing her masters degree in Comparative Literature at London University. Expressing delight over her selection, Sneha said that she looks forward to study the subject she loves.

Centre allows Jharkhand to retain 100 MBBS seats

RANCHI: The state government has finally succeeded in retaining the 100 MBBS seats, which were cancelled by the Medical Council of India in August last year, with the Union health ministry's mediation.

The Union ministry's decision to keep 50 seats intact at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMC) in Jamshedpur and Patliputra Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in Dhanbad, which was personally overseen by health minister JP Nadda, reached Nepal House late on Thursday evening. A soft copy of the official order reached health secretary K Vidyasagar on Friday.

Gujrat Board makes changes in examination schedule

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education board had made changes in its timetable for the third semester examination for class XII and semester I examination of class XI.

The board has announced that the examination which was scheduled to be held on November 9, the Dhanteras day will now be held on October 30. Earlier the examination were to begin from November 2 and were to end on November 9, will now begin from October 30.

The board was forced to make the changed after students and parent's body made representations to the GSHSEB to make changes in the date of the examination. Parents claimed that the festivity in the state begins from Dhanteras which was just two days before the Diwali festival. The Board while declaring the academic calendar at the start of the session had announced Diwali vacation from November 9.

CBSE CTET 2015: Answer key to be published at ctet.nic.in

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has successfully conducted the Central Teaching Eligibility Test (CTET) on September 20. The answer key for the same will be published soon at ctet.nic.in.
In order to view the answer key, the candidates must visit the official website. Thereafter the candidates can click on the link, 'CTET 2015 Answer Key'. On submitting the same, the answer key will be displayed on the screen.This year, 7.5 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. The exam was held at 959 centres in India and abroad.  More than 1,600 independent observers were deployed by the Board at the examination centres apart from Board's officials at each centre all over the country to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of examination.
The exam was compromise of two papers: Paper I for candidates who wish to opt classes I to V and Paper II for candidates who wish to teach Classes VI to VIII. The questions paper was compromise of objective in nature; there were multiple options for every question.

The All India Management Association (AIMS) has declared the results for the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) 2015. The candidates who had appeared for the exam can now check their result at the official website of MAT, www.aima.in.
The candidates can check their result by following the steps mentioned below:

  • Click on 'Testing'
  • Go to 'MAT'
  • Click on 'MAT RESULT SEP 2015'
  • Enter your roll number
  • Enter your form number
  • Select the month of test (September)
  • Click on 'Submit'
The result will be displayed on the screen. The candidates may download their result and take a printout of the same for future reference.
The candidates also have the option to get their results through AIMA's SMS service. They can do so by messaging 'MATS FORMNO DOB(ddmmyy)' to 54242. This service is applicable on all phone operators.
The exam was conducted in two parts, in the pen and paper based format and in the online format. The pen and paper based test was held on September 6 and the online based examination was held on September 12.

CAT 2015: Registration date extended to September 25


CAT 2015: Registrations

The Common Admission Test (CAT) registration date has been extended to September 25.  According to a report in Times of India, 1.38 lakh candidates had registered to take the competitive exam. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on November 29. in two sessions in 136 test cities at 650 test venues. The results for the same will be declared in the second week of January.
This year onward, CAT has made a few changes i.e. the duration of the exam has been increased to 10 minutes and new section have been added i.e. Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR). The paper will be segregated into three sections i.e. Quantitative Aptitute (QA), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Verbal & Reading Comprehension (VRC).
The general and SC/ST/PwD/DA candidates are required to make a payment of Rs 1,600 and Rs 800, respectively. The eligible and interested candidates must apply through the official website, the link for which is: iimcat.ac.in.
The candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree with at least 50 per cent from a recognised university or institute. The candidates' selection will be made on the basis written ability test, group discussion and personal interview.

COMEDK-PGET 2016: Check out the exam dates

The COMEDK-Post Graduate Entrance Test (COMEDK-PGET 2016) is scheduled to be conducted in February 2016 and the exam dates have been announced by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K).

Lucknow University commences its admission process for Ph.D programmes 2015

The AIMA (All India Management Association) will be conducting the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for the upcoming session on December 6 (paper based) and December 12 (computer based). The online registrations for the same will begin in October.
MAT  is a national level test and is conducted to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes in any B-School - national or international. The candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs 1,200 for the registration process. The payment can be made through credit or debit card, net banking, demand draft or in cash at any nodal centre of AIMA.
Eligibility criteria
The candidates must have acquired a degree in a related field from a recognised university or institute, in order to be eligible to apply. The students who are in their final year of graduation can also apply.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad has released an admission notifcation, inviting interested and eligible candidates to enroll for its Fellow Program in Management (FPM) offered in various specializations for the academic session 2016.
Eligibility criteria
The candidates applying for this course should have a masters degree in any discipline, with at least 55 percent marks, with a bachelors degree/ equivalent qualification with at-least 50 percent marks obtained after a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10 plus 12) or equivalent

The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is scheduled to be conducted on September 27. The test is mandatory for getting teaching jobs in government schools from Class 1 to Class 8 in Odisha. Paper 1 is meant for aspirants opting to teach Class 1 to Class 5 and Paper 2 for Class 6 to Class 8.

The University of Hyderabad has released an admission notification, inviting interested and eligible candidates to enroll for its Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program offered in various areas for candidates who are exempted from written test component for the session October 2015.
Eligibility criteria
The candidates applying for this course should have a master's degree in concerned or related subjects with at least 55 percent marks or equivalent grade. The candidates who are completing their final examinations by June 2015 are also eligible to apply.
For Ph.D. Electronics Science, candidates having GATE are also eligible to apply.
Selection procedure
An interview would be conducted for the candidates for the admission. Awardees of JRF/ NBHM/ ICMR/ ICAR/ DBT / RGNF / MANF /DST INSPIRE are exempted from the written test only. They will have to appear for the interview.

CBSE CTET 2015: Important instructions for candidates


CBSE CTET 2015

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to conduct the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) on September 20. The board has issued certain instructions for the candidates who will appear for the exam, they are required to strictly comply with the  prescribed rules.
The instructions for CTET September 2015 are listed below:
  • The candidates should follow all instructions and maintain discipline in the examination hall
  • They should not indulge in or promote any unfair means/activity during the examination

From September 1, the online registration for GATE will commence and the last date for online filling of forms is October 1.
The syllabi for GATE 2016 papers have been revised and differs from those of GATE 2015.
Earlier there were total 22 papers, but now after the introduction of a new stream namely, Petroleum Engineering (PE) the total number of papers is 23. The duration of the examination will be 3 hours. There will be 65 questions and maximum marks will be 100.
The examination will be an online computer based test (CBT), which will contain multiple choice questions (MCQ).
One change that has been introduced this year is that now an online virtual calculator will be provided to all examinees during the examination, whereas earlier students used to get their own calculators.
The candidates can download their admit cards from the official website of GATE 2016.

TSICET 2015: Second counselling dates published

The Telangana Sate Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has released the Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test (TSICET) 2015 counselling dates at the official website, the link for which is tsicet.nic.in. The exam was conducted on May 22 at various examination centers for admission into Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Administration (BA) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) all universities in Telangana and their affiliated colleges.
The candidates are required to produce the following documents at the time of certificate verification:
  • All original certificates and 2 sets of Xerox copies like
  • TSICET-2015 Hall Ticket, Rank Card
  • S.C or its equivalent marks memo
  • Intermediate marks memo
  • Degree marks memos and pass certificate,
  • IX to degree study certificates,
  • Residence Certificate (in case where the candidate has no institutionalized education), in case of non-local candidates residential certificate of either of parents in Telangana for 10 years excluding the period of employment outside Telangana from Tahsildar.
