NIT Goa invites applications for Ph.D programmes



National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa has invited applications for its Ph.D programmes for the 2015-16 session. The admissions are being conducted under the programmes of Engineering and Technology and Humanities and Sciences. The interested and eligible candidates may apply according to the given format.
Eligibility criteria:
Engineering and Technology:
  • The candidates should have a Master's degree in either Engineering or Technology in the concerned discipline from a recognised university or institute. They should have a minimum score of 60 percent marks or 6.5 CGPA on a scale of 10 in both, their Bachelor's and Master's degree
  • The candidates should have a valid GATE score or should have qualified any one of these exams- UGC NET, CSIR or NBHM

Madhya Pradesh Class 10 board results: 50 percent students fail HSC examination




The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBOSE) declared the Class 10 board results on May 14 at 2 pm. The state recorded a dismal pass percentage of 49.79 percent, with 50 percent of the students failing the state level exam. The results in the private category were even more unsatisfactory, with only 14.02 percent students clearing their exams.
The first rank is shared by Shivam Dubey from Katni and Sandeep Kumar Shah of Singrauli. Both have scored 586 out of a total of 600 marks. The second spot is held by Ayush Shrivastava from Bhander, who has a score of 584 marks; and the top three ranks are rounded off by Shivam Sharma, who scored 583 marks.
The MP High School Certificate (HSC) examination was conducted from March 3 to March 24 this year. Over 10 lakh students took the state level examination. Out of these about 8.3 lakh appeared from the regular category, and 2.8 lakh appeared from the private category. A total of 1.85 students passed with first division, 2.13 lakh cleared the exams with second division and 53,000 students got third division. More than 2.3 lakh students got the supplementary division.
The candidates who appeared for the examination will be able to access their results at the official site of the board, www. mpbse.nic.in.

IIT Madras signs joint doctoral programme agreement with Curtin University

CHENNAI: In an attempt to broaden and strengthen research links with Australia, the IIT Madras on Thursday signed a joint doctoral programme agreement with Curtin University, Australia. 

Curtin University dean international for the faculty of Science and Engineering Syed Islam, said that the new programme would strengthen engineering and management related activities across the two institutes. "It will help students gain perspective of both countries as they will be exposed to different cultures. This collaboration is being undertaken to help achieve the vision of the University through research," he said.

Candidates can start to download their Admit Cards from Monday, 18 May 2015, 10:00 (IST) onwards from this website. Based on the feedback received from the candidates, rectification of discrepencies in the admit card may be addressed from Monday, 18 May, 2015, 10:15 (IST) onwards to till Wednesday, 20 May, 2015, 17:00 (IST). Note this is a change of schedule from that mentioned in the Information Brochure. This change is because a significantly large number of candidates have not uploaded valid and legible documents such as photographs, signatures, certificates etc.
