AIPMT Row Update: Supreme Court Cancels 2015 Result Declaration; Asks CBSE to Hold Retest in 4 Weeks

AIPMT result Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of India on Monday cancelled the announcement of 2015 All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) results and asked the CBSE to conduct re-examination within four weeks.
The Supreme Court is expected to pronounce its judgement on a plea seeking re-examination of CBSE's All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) against the backdrop of irregularities in the tests conducted in May 2015 on Monday (15 June).
The SC vacation bench of Justices RK Agrawal and Amitava Roy had reserved its verdict on 12 June. During the hearing, the bench lashed out at CBSE saying, "Your system has failed, you have been outwitted and outmanoeuvred by cheaters using electronic devices in exam hall."
The SC was hearing petitions demanding re-conduct of AIPMT 2015 in view of the paper leak and cheating during the tests conducted on 3 May. It had asked the Haryana Police to identify all the beneficiaries of leaked question paper.

Students and parents have been anxiously waiting for the SC verdict, which would decide the future of those who appeared in the 2015 AIPMT.
More than six lakh students are waiting for the merit list of AIPMT, based on which 2,000 students will get admission to various medical colleges across the nation.

The CBSE had argued in its affidavit to the SC that the procedures into the admission in medical colleges will be delayed if the apex court cancels the results. The education board said that the re-conduct of examination will delay the 2015-16 session.
The students too seem to be worried as re-examination might take away many of their chances in getting seat in prestigious medical colleges. There is also a fear that the delay in session might put pressure on the students to complete the syllabus.
