IIT Kanpur begins admissions for its Master of Science (MS) programmes

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has begun the admission process for its Master of Science (MS) programmes. The institute has invited applications for the session of 2015, under Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Management, Mechanical Engineering and Photonics Science and Engineering. The interested and eligible candidates may apply as per the prescribed format.
Eligibility criteria:
MS in Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering:  The candidates should have any of these degrees- B.Tech, BS (four-year) , M.Sc. or any other equivalent degree. They must have a minimum score of 55 percent marks or 5.5 CPI (on a 10 point scale), and a valid GATE score  (sponsored and part-time candidates are not required to have a GATE score).
MS in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering: The candidates should have any of these degrees- B.Tech, BS (four-year) or any other equivalent degree. They must have a minimum score of 55 percent marks or 5.5 CPI (on a 10 point scale), and a valid GATE score  (sponsored and part-time candidates are not required to have a GATE score).

MS in Environmental Engineering and Management, and Photonics Science and Engineering: The candidates should have any of these degrees- B.Tech, BS (four-year) , M.Sc. or any other equivalent degree. They must have a minimum score of 55 percent marks or 5.5 CPI (on a 10 point scale), and a valid GATE score  (sponsored and part-time candidates are not required to have a GATE score). Those who hold a B.Sc degree or its equivalent with 75 percent marks or 7.5 CPI are also eligible to apply.
Application procedure: The candidates can apply online at www.iitk.ac.in. After filling the online application, candidates have to take a print out and send it to the concerned department, along with all the required certificates and photograph.
Application fee: An application fee of Rs 400 is to be paid by candidates in General and OBC categories and Rs 200 by the SC, ST and PD categories. The payment must be made through a demand draft (from any nationalised bank) drawn in favour of 'The Registrar IIT Kanpur' and payable at Kanpur.
Selection procedure: The candidates can visit the official website for details on the selection procedure.
Important dates:
The last date for submitting applications is June 15.
The last date for receipt of hard copy by the institution is June 19.
